Defined by the vision of the legendary architect Addison Mizner. 

Taber & Company was selected to create the custom cabinetry and millwork for the world class , Forbes Five Star Cloister Resort and Spa at Sea Island. The stunning millwork paid tribute to the lavish Mediterranean Revival architecture and interiors with hand carved moldings and aged old world finishes. Solid Hickory Pecan was used through out the Resort and mesquite wood was used in the Spa.

Kitchen Islands and Wood Countertops

Taber & Company’s  handcrafted kitchen islands and wood countertops are designed exclusively for each client, expressing the style and architecture of each home. Milling wood on site from hardwood trees that are reclaimed or selectively harvested gives John the opportunity to hand pick the logs and customize the thickness and width of the slabs for each of the kitchen island designs.  While most cabinet makers are limited to what is standard and available through lumber resources, Taber has no limitations.

Creating custom handcrafted kitchen islands and wood countertops  for luxury homes, made with a passion of preserving the art of craftsmanship and enhancing the natural characteristics of solid wood.  Without any automation or CNC machinery, each piece is built in the same tradition as Taber & Company furniture, by hand from the start to finish. Dovetail joinery, hand forged iron hardware and layers of hand applied custom blended stains and wax are all trademarks. Using soft touch glides on solid wood drawers and skillfully integrating appliances offers the client the best of both, old world carpentry with todays convenience.

The kitchen island is made from a reclaimed Arizona Ash, the incredible grain is rich with patina and character. The design was based on an old bakery table and one slab was precisely cut to book match the grains on the drawers fronts. The wood top is made from solid planks and has an end grain edge.

The kitchen hood surround is over 14′ feet long, curved and built from two solid pieces from the same mesquite tree.  Supported by two massive solid wood hand carved corbels.  The undulation and rich coloration in the wood is enhanced by the wax finish.  Architecture Urban Design Associates  Interior Design Billi Springer  Custom Builder RNET Custom Homes.

An antique European cabinet was the inspiration for this kitchen island and cabinetry designed and custom built for a Mediterranean Estate in Santa Barbara.

Antique Wrought Iron Candelabra Hangs Above The Custom Designed Altar Table 

Hacienda style furniture, doors and forged iron are part of the Taber & Company collection. Handcrafted stone foutains and the blue and white talavera pottery and tile are found throughout the homes many courtyards.

The hacienda style  furniture was custom build for the many courtyards though out the Arizona residence. Using mesquite wood, native to the desert and an excellent wood to withstand the outdoors. This is the same wood species used in to pave the road to the Alamo 1880. Selected for its durability, minimal contraction and expansion it is also resistant to rot.

In the butler’s pantry, one of a pair of armoires are fitted with a SubZero wine cooler and refrigerator drawers. Hand carved furniture grace a long hallway. The guest bathroom features handcrafted blue and white tile with stone wainscoting.

A set of handcrafted mesquite wood carriage style garage doors were designed with hand forged iron hinges. The heavily textured wood with a wax finish are a perfect compliment to the natural stone.
